CNNCross Platform Associate Producer
Jan. 2018 - Jan. 2022Atlanta, GeorgiaI supported the operations at CNN by learning the ins and outs of each department’s industry standards. I collaborated with show teams, digital teams, and specialized departments in various roles. I wrote, edited, and produced for all areas of CNN, rotating through unique departments every 6 to 8 months. Below is a description of the roles I fulfilled. Rotations: Ticker (9 months then ongoing as needed)-Can you write an entire news story in 6 lines or less? That's what I did as a full-time writer on CNN's Ticker scroll in this rotation. I stayed on top of breaking news and any updates to current news stories to give our audience up-to-date and accurate information. I was responsible for researching, editing, and producing the content we create. All of my work appeared on-air to millions of CNN viewers. Social Discovery (~2.5 years)- I curated content for the appropriate CNN news gathering teams from all aspects of social media. I was given a story or a topic and have to find where it exists online in its original form. I then cleared the user generated content, interviewed the person, wrote the story. Then I assisted in making sure the latest trends are available to all producers and writers. I collaborated with the team brainstorming ideas and pitching unique social media trends. Trends Team (1 year)- I was on the hunt daily for stories that are resonating online through various channels including social media and Google news. I wrote an average of 3 stories a day that appear on CNN.com and our social publishing channels. In addition, I took on niche projects and enterprise pieces, such as collecting voter stickers from across the country or creating a bingo board for watching holiday movies.
