In 2012, Jill found her calling—serving children in need. During her time at Children’s Hope Alliance and Barium Springs Home for Children, she developed and implemented fundraising strategies as well as volunteer programs, increased corporate giving by more than 60% and exceeded yearly fundraising goals; leading her team to raising more than $5.1 million in 2016. Since joining Thornwell’s team as the Associate Director of Philanthropy in 2016, Jill has established and increased the major gifts and planned giving programs while focusing on programmatic and general operating fundraising needs. Jill and her husband, Matt, live in Statesville, NC, where Jill has served in her community and nonprofit organizations more than 10 years. They have been married for eight years and have two rescued dogs, Gracie and Elee. Although Jill and Matt do not have biological kids, they feel very called to mentor and serve God’s children. In June of 2018, Jill began her current position as Thornwell’s Vice President for Mission Advancement. Her love for children, youth, and connecting donors runs as deep as her commitment to building tomorrow’s families today. “Fundraising isn’t a matter of money; it’s a matter of matching hearts with a mission. When we align the hearts of individuals with a mission they are passionate about, the dollars will follow. The organization was born out of the Presbyterian Church in 1875 as a war orphanage and has grown to serve children in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. We take a teaching family approach where every child before us, will get the highest quality of care. I have the privilege to be part of impacting and reshaping the future of children by building relationships with key donors and maximizing philanthropic support. Managing the Major Gift Program will allow for our organization to launch a new Foster Care program, strengthen the current Residential and The Building Families Programs within our communities.
