University of HartfordSenior Director of Brand and Creative
Feb. 2016 - Sep. 2022West Hartford, CTIn this role, I inspired and oversaw the creative expression of the university brand in print, digital, and environmental design; photography; and video. As part of the department’s senior leadership team, I participated in the strategic development of integrated marketing and communications for recruitment and advancement purposes. Collaborating across the institution, I worked to ensure that the practices and physical environment were demonstrations of the UHart brand’s core values. In conjunction with the vice president, I guided a brand refresh initiative, working with constituents across campus to update the university’s brand into a more flexible visual style with a strong messaging platform. I oversaw the execution of the brand elements and messaging across the university, collaborating with partners throughout the institution to ensure successful implementation. I provided creative direction for recruitment marketing and advancement communication pieces. As art director for the university’s award-winning biannual magazine, I provided editorial leadership, impacting story ideas, design, and section content. I managed the production schedule, arranged and provided art direction for photo shoots, and oversaw the printing process. Participating in steering committees to provide brand insight on capital improvement projects, I evaluated concepts and design with an eye for the overall aesthetics of the campus. I designed capital improvement project visibility pieces with the goal of improving the campus experience for the UHart community and visitors. As the pandemic forced us to pivot our recruitment strategies, I owned the creative direction and managed the production of a stable of short-form videos that told the stories of the people impacted by our institution. These video assets have had a direct impact on recruitment efforts, as demonstrated by a 15% increase in signature event attendance and three years of increases in applications.
