Sep. 2001 - Aug. 2008My team ported a PowerBuilder Application from SQL Server on an Intel/Windows platform to DB2 on z/OS, converting over 500 SQL stored procedures. I set up, and maintained a leased z/OS environment from IBM used for development and testing. I developed and implemented a migration strategy from the leased site to the end users environment, and provided general mainframe knowledge and support to the team.

VSPDB2 Architect
Mar. 2000 - Jan. 2004I Supported Enterprise Architecture team in developing, deploying, and maintaining a new environment using JAVA applications, applets, and EJBs, accessing a DB2 database on MVS and provided general DBA support to development of a Data Warehouse, loaded with data from MVS, running on Sun Solaris, including the creation and maintenance of all KORN Shell scripts used to run warehouse processes, and scheduling in ESP. I performed R & D on new DB2/UDB technologies, such as trialing UDB on Linux S390 and I setup and ran replication using DPROP from OS390/DB2V6 production to the UDB data warehouse.
Database Architect
IBM Global ServicesDatabase Architect
Sep. 1994 - Mar. 2000I determined and implemented the Database Architecture for a large client server application for the State of California Child Welfare System (CWS) comprising 200+ DB2 tables, 2000+ attributes, 200+ Gigabytes of DB2 storage, and a peak transaction rate of 1,500 transactions per minute. I designed and developed a Data Warehouse/Data Mart solution for CWS system, using Business Objects as a front end, Visual Warehouse to manage the transformations, and DB2 UDB on an AIX platform. I determined and implemented the Database Architecture for a large message queuing application for the State of California, Statewide Automated Welfare System (SAWS). This system is comprised of over 75 tables, 1000+ attributes, 200+ Gigabytes of DB2 storage, and a peak transaction rate of over 2,000 TPM. I designed, modeled, built, and implemented an automated solution to replace a manual network inventory system used by the State of California Health and Welfare Data Center for tracking all of their network and terminal equipment.
DB2 DBA
MCI SystemsDB2 DBA
Dec. 1991 - Sep. 1994I implemented a large DB2 system (several tables in excess of 20 million rows) for the purpose of storing and retrieving client information used to generate telemarketing leads, including maintenance schedules, access paths, and partitioning strategies. An average of 300,000 leads per day were generated from this system. This system also maintained historical data regarding lead activity. I managed a system using IBM's Object Access Method (OAM) to store data on DB2, and then migrate to optical devices.
