Aug. 2023Cloverdale, California, United States-Transformed the school library into a vibrant community hub, now hosting 500-700 student visits weekly during recess—ranging from occasional visitors to daily attendees—while increasing teacher participation in scheduled class visits. -Pioneered fundraising initiatives that secured nearly 1,000 new books, a makerspace, and a book vending machine, enhancing student access to engaging and equitable resources. -Partnered with Kiwanis to stock the book vending machine, incentivizing reading and supporting literacy growth across the school community. -Introduced and lead the True Colors Club, providing LGBTQIA+ and questioning students with a safe space for discussion, support, and community building. -Managed the library budget and acquisitions process, maintaining meticulous records of book inventory, circulation statistics, and budget allocation to ensure efficient operations and data-driven decision-making. -Conducted in-depth research on books and authors to ensure the collection reflects high-quality, culturally responsive, and engaging materials for a variety of reading levels and interests. -Designed and delivered lessons and programs tailored to the needs of English Learners (Spanish and Ukrainian speakers) and other underserved populations. -Organized high-impact events, including an author visit with Raina Telgemeier and other guest speakers, to inspire students and celebrate literacy. -Established two thriving book clubs in partnership with the Sonoma County Public Library, fostering a love of reading among 5th/6th and 7th/8th grade students. -Reintroduced Scholastic Book Fairs to the school, generating funds to expand library resources and build excitement for literacy.
