Additionally, I worked closely with the Deputy Headteacher of the PYP to develop a teacher appraisal and professional development system that reflects the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate and the approaches to learning that underpin the IB curriculum. I am passionate about all aspects of Learning and Teaching and the impact of evidence-based practice on student outcomes as well as teachers' professional development. I have also developed a website for our teaching staff that signposts the most useful evidence-based practice and latest research into a wide range of topics.

I also lead on a project to develop provision for UAE Social Studies, citing a range of sources, both locally and across the UAE, to enthuse students and staff about the rich culture and history of the country.

Sep. 2015 - Aug. 2017Birkenhead, Merseyside, United KingdomIn this role, I was responsible for changing the culture and ethos of the school to further enhance students' learning experiences and improve student outcomes. I led the pastoral provision across the school and facilitated the change from horizontal to vertical tutoring and the establishment of a house system. This positively impacted the school's capability to provide a range of supportive networks for students from Year 7 onwards. I also line-managed the SENDCO to ensure the school's provision was compliant with the raft of changes introduced by the DfE from 2013 onwards, including management of budgets and strategic planning of future provision in light of financial constraints.
Another significant aspect of my role was the leadership of off-site provision and developing meaningful partnerships with providers from across Merseyside.

Sep. 2013 - Aug. 2015Liverpool, United KingdomAs the Senior Vice Principal of the academy, I was responsible not only for Inclusion but also a wide range of HR issues for a staff of over 200 and also the effective marketing and corporate strategies of the school to ensure stable student numbers year-on-year. As a truly inclusive school I worked closely with the VP Curriculum to strategically plan and resource excellent provision for a student cohort of 20% SEND and 60%+ Pupil Premium. This aspect of my role required strong organisation and time management skills to ensure that key post holders were able to carry out their duties with clear guidelines, appropriate deadlines and the necessary support to successfully complete their tasks.
I also taught A-Level History throughout this time.

Sep. 2010 - Aug. 2013London, England, United KingdomAs Assistant Headteacher I was responsible for Learning and Teaching across both campuses of the split-site school, the development of subject-specific pedagogy within departments, Literacy and Communication across the Curriculum and English as an Additional Language.
The main thrust of my work was centred around teacher development, particularly NQTs and RQTs including our pioneer Teach First cohorts. In addition, I line managed the Humanities and Social Studies faculties and shared responsibility for running both the academic and pastoral aspects of the lower site of the school.
Amongst my leadership responsibilities I also taught History to A-Level.

Sep. 2007 - Aug. 2010Southwark, LondonAs Head of Year 11, I was responsible for the pastoral care and attainment of approximately 210 students. The role comprised the coordination of interventions, monitoring the quality of learning and teaching in core subjects, college applications and CIEAG, as well as more 'traditional' aspects of a Head of Year.
Subsequently, and in addition to my pastoral responsibilities, I also managed the Humanities department on an interim basis and helped to improve provision in class and student progress rates over the course of my one-year tenure.
Most importantly, I taught History to A-Level and English to GCSE.
