My professional background is diverse and includes jobs in public service, veterinary medicine, and small business ownership. I have worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative aide to a Member of Congress; a democracy coach in the former Soviet Union; a lobbyist in Washington, DC on health related issues. Desiring a mid-career change I received training as a veterinary technician and have worked in both day and emergency veterinary practices. Eventually, I started a pet services business which operated successfully for seventeen years. My achievements in each of the various fields where I worked are the result of skills that are necessary to any successful entity: a strong work ethic, problem solving skills, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attentive and timely customer service.
