My love for writing started while I was in school, as I excelled in English and writing papers. In college I graduated with a BA in journalism with an English minor. I started my career as a graphic artist/copywriter/proofreader for a small printing company that printed Cliffs Notes and other national publications. I won an IABC award for my design of a company’s yearbook, and had other statewide design awards for my projects. I then worked as an Admin. Assistant for the NE State Bar Association where I was responsible for designing, writing and editing their monthly publication. Once we moved, the economy led me to pursue a career in nursing and I graduated with a BSN from UNMC. I worked for 5 years as a med/surg. Nurse at a small critical access hospital and loved my job. Unfortunately a condition affecting my feet took me out of nursing for a couple of years until I was able to work as a public health nurse during the COVID years at our local public health department. During my nursing career I did bits and pieces of copywriting and editing for brochures, flyers, advertising and such. I also have been a Type 1 diabetic for over 55 years, which gives me a unique perspective on the medical world from a patient’s and professional point of view. I have done advocacy for diabetics, including a trip to Washington, D.C. sponsored by the ADA. Currently I am looking for part-time remote work as I work on a book based on my Grandmother’s diaries from 1939 to 2000. IN MY SPARE TIME I VOLUNTEER WITH A RAPTOR RESCUE GROUP AND AM A PASSIONATE ADVOCATE FOR RAPTORS, ESPECIALLY OWLS, AND THEIR CONSERVATION.
