This included: o Switching all employees on to a network share so as to aid in regular and reliable backups. I also ensured that all information was backed up safely off site in case of theft, fire, etc. o I investigated the need for a more efficient piece of building industry specific software and negotiated a package for two of our quantity surveyors to attend training courses and start using the software. This was the first phase of an eventual switch for the whole company over to a larger version of this system in order to maintain information integrity. • Marketing: I controlled all marketing and corporate identity elements, including: o Building the company website and maintaining it on a regular basis, particularly with regard to updates on our current projects: www.jacobynichol.co.za o Monitoring website visits and the relevant information using Google Analytics. This helped identify where our visitors’ interests lay and where there may have been opportunity for growth. o Improved SEO from an initial position on Google’s Search Engine Results Page 3 to the top of Page 1 of natural search (no paid advertising used). This continued to strengthen with regular updates to the site.
