Clayton UtzManager
Dec. 2006 - Jan. 2020Forensic & Technology ServicesI led, coached and developed multi-disciplined legal and technical teams of up to 50 to support large-scale commercial litigations, pharmaceutical and banking class actions, regulatory investigations and financial remediation schemes. This included negotiating project scope, designing and executing project workflows, e-discovery, trial preparation, contract review and early case assessment. I resourced, planned and executed matters across State and International boundaries in relation to banking and financial services, administrative and public law and the laws governing pharmaceutical products and medical devices. In providing trial team support, I managed the preparation of electronic evidence, bundles of vital materials for Senior Counsel, electronic cross-examination materials using e-court books, discovery databases and hyperlinked transcripts to ensure that litigation teams have access to all trial material in the most efficient way. I also prepared and presented to clients on emerging legal technologies, discovery databases, document exchange protocols and discovery obligations, including the Supreme Court and Federal Court practice notes. I have managed high profile litigations from inception to e-trial, with clients including global pharmaceutical manufacturers, an Australian industrial enterprise and a top four bank. My work included managing international e-discovery efforts, extensive electronic evidence preparation and providing e-trial support through to successful appeal. I also managed large Australian-based review teams across three States, and the USA. I also designed project workflows, directed large paralegal teams, and provided extensive project management, documentary and e-trial support. To streamline work, optimise efficiency and elevate productivity, I introduced workflows, documentation and process standardisation.
