• Identified and developed funding and program development opportunities for Central America and the Caribbean. • Developed and conducted workshops around sexuality and gender equity in New York and Latin America for adolescents, program managers, and clinical service providers.
• Implemented a training program for Family Health International Bangladesh focusing on sexuality and gender for vulnerable populations, including needs assessment, curriculum development workshop, and training of master trainers. • Organized yearly activities around September 28, Latin American and Caribbean Day for the Decriminalization of Abortion.
• Provided support for initiatives aimed at identifying and disseminating best practices in HIV prevention programs for youth:
- Oversaw training project for program managers in Haiti on the essential elements of youth-focused HIV prevention.
- Provided conceptual framework and oversaw a global mapping of program-related materials, training resources and interventions focusing on HIV prevention for youth.
- Conducted site visits to the Dominican Republic and Namibia for coordination with UNFPA offices, identification of stakeholders and partners, and hiring of staff.
- Supported the scale-up of an exemplary youth-focused HIV prevention project in the Dominican Republic, Chad, and Namibia.
• Founded the interdepartmental Outreach Committee, responsible for the coordination of programs directed at immigrant communities in New York City.
• Built linkages between programs in Central America and the Caribbean and immigrant- and Latino-serving community-based organizations in New York City.
