Metro Area• Worked with Web host of the society’s journal Blood, as well as with editors, authors, and other staff, to edit, format, and upload supplemental data, including videos, spreadsheets, and images, requiring use of HTML and XHTML codes as well as to be able to format documents so that they fit within the journal’s restrictions.
• Provided statistical reports showing manuscript submission, peer review, and citation activity using the journal’s resources as well as Thomson Reuters’ Web of Science.
• Client-side project manager for the transition of our Web host’s platform from DTL to XHTML, including a universal migration of content. This required extensive inventorying and editing of Web pages as well as QC for production and post-migration content, both front matter and scientific.
• Provided technical support and procedural coordination with internal staff and all outside users of the journal’s online manuscript submission and review system, Blood Bench>Press.
• From 2007–2010 served as managing editor of the ASH Image Bank, working with accepted images and metadata, transferring data and files from the Web submission content management system to the online publisher’s FTP site, then using the publisher’s Web interface to finalize online publication. This required editing SGML and XML data.
• Inspected figures, checking for image and data manipulation.
• Served as a link to Blood’s website vendor and server maintenance provider on matters related to general function and performance, system speed, and back-end requests.
• Aided in writing, editing, and updating online user guidelines for the Web-based system.
• Prepared statistics and provided support for the financial management of the editorial office, including payment of invoices and bookkeeping.
• Also served as Online Systems Manager (2002–2007), Online Review Coordinator (2001–2002), Interim Managing Editor (July–December 2000), and Senior Editorial Assistant (1998–2000).
