Surrey SHARES Community Program Coordinator
Mar. 2020 - Apr. 2024Surrey, British Columbia, CanadaThe Surrey Intercultural Seniors Social Inclusion Partnership (SISSIP) Network Project is a Collective Impact Initiative that aims to address barriers to social inclusion and engagement for seniors 55+, to make Surrey a more inter-culturally inclusive and engaged community. The Network consists of six organizations: the Backbone Organization, Progressive Intercultural Community Services Society (PICS) and five Collaborating Organizations, the City of Surrey, Seniors Come Share Society, SOURCES, UNITI and Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association (FRAFCA). Working alongside UNITI, Surrey SHARES was created for seniors in the Surrey community that would like to meet likeminded people, who may be isolated and alone, who would enjoy learning about storytelling and who are interested in doing some deep diving into what is and is out of balance in their life. Together, over the course of 8 weeks we develop a meaningful story that will be professionally recorded at the end while we work through limiting beliefs as we create strong supported goals and action plans. - Co-create the program - Create material for the Life Coaching component of the program - Facilitate group coaching sessions - Facilitate one on one sessions weekly with each participant where we work through what is out of balance in their life
- Create supported goals and specific action plans - Provide accountability to those in the program - Plan and support the Social Committee in pulling together events - Participate in collective impact with the rest of the SISSIP Network - Sit on a Mental Health Committee for the community of Surrey - Work with Storytelling Coach to ensure that the program objectives are met

Oct. 2017 - Feb. 2022South Surrey The Youth Knowledge, Resources and Understanding (Youth KRU) project is a Skills Link program offering life/employability skills and paid work experience placements to youth aged 15-30 with multiple barriers to employment. My role in this program is to support the recruitment and the ongoing development, planning and delivery of individual and group-based training for the participants in the program. -Assess the client's skills and abilities, employment interest and barriers to successful employment to determine employment needs and develop a plan of action identifying level of support
-Clarify employment, training or career goals by exploring local labour market, education and training opportunities/resources including apprenticeship opportunities
-Deliver a suite of pre-emplyment workshops on job readiness, career exploration, life skills, job attainment and employment related skills
-Ensure that curriculum is current, engaging and geared toward youth- focusing on interactive activities
-Responsible for providing youth with coaching and support both individually and in a group setting
-Empower youth through the nature of program material, on going support and connecting to community resources as appropriate -Responsible for coordinating project curriculum ex: field trips, guest speakers and youth placements -Participate in program marketing and recruitment of appropriate program participants -Support group development, including crisis management and conflict resolution

We have presented on things such as Gratitude in the Workplace, Boundary Setting, SMART Goals and Goal Setting, How to show up in relationships, Resume and Cover letters, Interview Skills to name a few. In addition, we are happy to take your material and simply facilitate it as well and really enjoy doing contract facilitation as well.
