Mar. 2017 - Feb. 2020Plön, Schleswig-Holstein, GermanyI investigated biofilms of infectious bacteria, in unstable micro-environments such as the surface of liquids. The research project aimed to visualize and observe single cells where air, liquid, and a solid surface form, a triple contact point and provide a micro niche for bacteria infection. Lungs, and in particular alveoli are cavities that withhold such triple contact boundaries. To study how bacteria invade such a micro-environment, I envisioned and designed a device capable to expose the triple contact point of a stagnant liquid contained in a dummy alveoli.
