Jul. 2021 - Sep. 2021SingaporeProgramme: Scaling the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem across the Indo-Pacific GSMA and the Australian Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). GSMA commissioned UrbanEmerge and The Hungry Lab (THL) to provide technical assistance support to nine startups in AsiaPac. The programme is part of the GSMA (Global System for Mobile Communications) and jointly with the Australian Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Launched in 2020, it supports startup entrepreneurship in South East Asia and the Pacific by focusing on sustainability, increasing their capacity to scale their social and economic impact. This report aims to set out a diagnostic of challenges faced by each startup and outline the proposed support provided by the UrbanEmerge-led TA team between July and September 2021. * As Technical Assistance Expert, I provided digital marketing strategies and business development recommendations for each of the eight startups, designed to meet their various needs in a demand-driven approach. * Analyzed through a market assessment to identify competitors and potential customer segments and supported the startups’ to test problem-solution fit by collecting user feedback and integrating it into their service. * Identified a clear value proposition for their products/services and guidance to create targeted communications to reach the identified segments. * Fulfilled strategic support such as identifying optimum marketing channels, strategy on using them, increasing sales, and creating partnerships. * Followed the programme’s directive to improve the resilience of businesses to survive the effects of COVID-19, continue to create employment, improve livelihoods, support sustainable growth, and address the impacts of climate change. * I co-authored the Startup Sustainability Plan Summary & Knowledge Pack for eight startups. It is a manual to review our recommendations, learning materials, and a pathway for 120 days.
