Orange County School of the ArtsIntegrated Arts Teacher,
Dec. 2010 - Aug. 2011Orange County School of the Arts, Santa Ana, CAI spent a wonderful year teaching 7th graders about design and production. Challenged their imaginations to see how Design and Production is a medium to support almost any kind of creative self expression. We tackled projects with presumed obstacles to mounting a production, including creative problem solving re: character development, costume design, set design, lighting, makeup, scene work, blocking but always linking back to why work in theater is vital, inventive and capable of providing those interested in this field to find a steady income. My mantra was "Los Angeles is a factory town, and the product is entertainment. If you love this work, and you apply yourself to it, in this part of the world you will always find employment." Was delighted to share with motivated, talented students work of Edward Gorey, Maurice Sendak, Tim Burton, Shakespeare, MOCA, South Coast Repertory Theater, Spielberg, and more...Teaching at OCSHA was a joy and a delight. I adored inspiring their creative minds and seeing the rich work they produced.
