BatteriiChief of Staff | EVP Strategy, Alliances & Product
Jun. 2011 - May. 2017Cincinnati, OHBatterii develops digital tools and services for 'needs seekers' and 'market readers' -- companies whose success depends on innovative business models, brands and experiences that truly connect with people. Its integrated suite of cloud-based desktop and mobile apps power design, brand and venture-building teams through customer discovery, sense-making and synthesis — the notoriously fuzzy front-end of innovation where the “magic” happens. Batterii customers include: adidas, Bayer, BCG Digital Ventures, Coca-Cola, Georgia-Pacific, J&J, Ocean Spray, Pfizer, P&G, REI, State Farm, Toyota. The extreme uncertainly that follows most early-stage startups like Batterii required a combination of focus and flexibility, as well as a willingness to play multiple, customer-facing and behind-the-scenes roll-up-the-sleeves roles: - As Chief of Staff to the CEO, I offered frank and measured advice that helped temper decisions. - As Chief Strategist, I worked with the Batterii leadership team to achieve and maintain clarity on overall direction, conducting market and design research, mapping the competitive and cooperative landscape, crafting and monitoring dynamic execution strategies that scaled the business. By combining thoughtful analysis with strategic intuition, I helped the team and board ask, answer and align on fundamental questions like “where and how could we, should we, and will we compete?”. - As Alliance Manager, I developed programs and brand advocates across a community of world class design agencies and innovation consultancies. - As Product Owner, I defined product vision, and rationalized it into cogent strategy, roadmap and epics/user stories for a small, highly gifted (and caffeinated) team delivering in an agile, continuous delivery (CD) lifecycle. - As Customer Success Manager (2011-2013), I helped implement systems and delivered services (onboarding, onsite workshops) required to develop healthy customer relationships and CS staff over time.
