Aug. 2024 - Apr. 2025Taught four distinct grade levels at a K-8 elementary and middle school as the primary Spanish 1 instructor for Queen of Apostles School. All students in grades 6-8 learned fundamental Spanish skills in a challenging but rewarding academic environment. The curriculum emphasized practical sentence structure, extensive vocabulary, grammatical knowledge, and in-depth interpersonal communication in realistic scenarios outside the classroom. Instruction was given in both languages. Other duties as a staff member included substitute teaching roles whenever necessary, building strong relationships with families and students alike, and attending a variety of student events. As an Extended Day Aide, all grade levels had the opportunity to benefit from a safe and secure environment that is offered for three hours every afternoon when school is in session. Tutoring or mentoring sessions for Spanish students were available during after-school hours regularly.

My prior international experience includes a six month study abroad stay in Salamanca, Spain (2014), a brief visit to Havana, Cuba through another study abroad experience (2019), and a year of living and working in the Dominican Republic, near Santo Domingo (2015-2016). I also have professional experience as a middle and high school Spanish teacher in the Northern Virginia area. At the moment I am based in Washington, D.C. and I am continuing my full-time Spanish education at the State Department facility in the area, called the Foreign Service Institute, in Arlington, Virginia.
