• Project start up assistance to ILO Bangladesh office on Rana Plaza garment manufacturing project.
• Financial and management counsel to the Africa Regional Director, management of the Africa Region and ILO Treasurer based at ILO HQ in Geneva. • Review/monitor field implementation of internal audit recommendation implementations at all ILO field offices & report to Africa Regional Director & ILO Treasurer. • Conduct finance training at all Africa Country & Project offices.
• Review/monitor field foreign exchange transactions with a view to centralization at HQ Geneva. • Business Continuity Management assistance for HQ and all field offices. • Risk management reviews, finance (budget preparation and monitoring, treasury management, financial accounting and reporting, expense review, internal audit follow-up, external audit relations and follow-up), administration (infrastructure selection and management, human resources selection and management, documentation, security) information technology (information technology and communications equipment selection, installation and management). • Higher caliber of recruits and increased “in service” training. Resulting in more effective and more accurate data input.
• Updated ILO Africa region data communications infrastructure in anticipation of IRIS - ERP system being brought to the Region.
• Senior Security Officer for the Africa Region. Organized and executed the evacuations of (25) international staff and their families twice from Abidjan during political crises period. Successfully rented the Abidjan Complex to other UN agencies which contributed over US$750,000 per year for five years to its running costs.
• Maintained good relations, visibility & contacts within governments of countries where the ILO has offices.
