i3S - Health Investigation and Inovation InstituteResearch Trainee
Feb. 2019 - Jul. 2021Porto, PortugalWorking as a research trainee in a scientific research group was a very enriching experience for me. It was my first direct contact with laboratory practices and technologies, where I learned new molecular biology skills and how to perform laboratory research in clinical investigation. The main goal of my project was to unravel the role that extracellular vesicles play in the development of cardiac fibrosis in heart failure patients, which ended up being the theme of my Masters dissertation. During those years in the lab, I performed various different molecular biology techniques: protein quantification, western blotting, PCR, cell culture, nanoparticle tracking analysis, microscopy, sample processing, and others.
