Jul. 1991 - Jul. 2001Responsible for all operations in conjunction with the Board of Directors. Conceived and developed programs. Recruited, trained, and supervised employees. Planned budgets and disbursed funds. Raised funds through grants, events, and appeals. Planned for the future. In 1996, opened the Ariel Community Academy, a Chicago Public School, through the Small Schools Initiative. Hired and worked collaboratively with the Academy staff. Created, conceived, hired for, and supervised the before- and after-school programs and family programs for the Academy. Started and co-ordinated the "I Have a Dream" program. The program selected an entire class, forty sixth graders at Shakespeare School, promised them college scholarships, and made the commitment to guide them through junior high and high school. * Tripled the high school graduation rate compared to the two previous classes
