Sofitel Luxury Hotels and ResortsOrganisational Development | Training Manager
Jan. 2008 - May. 2010Melbourne, AustraliaAs Training Manager for this leading Luxury property, I managed Learning Solutions for all 530 Sofitel staff and Management Team and helped drive internal culture change and Organisational Development. I implemented a comprehensive Training Plan for the Hotel to meet strategic Business and People objectives, which was rolled out to all Sofitel Luxury Hotels in Asia / Pacific in 2009. I developed a comprehensive suite of training and support materials for the region and facilitated the full range of in-house programs. I also collaborated with external regulatory agencies and Training providers and developed joint Training programs with building owners AMP, ISS Facility Management, the Melbourne Fire Brigade and Academie Accor. My time at Sofitel was incredibly enjoyable and an experience that I will treasure along with the many personal and professional friendships that I formed over these years.

AccorOrganisational Development | HR Manager
Dec. 2006 - Dec. 2007Novotel Melbourne St Kilda was, at the time of my tenure, Melbourne's premier beachfront hotel. In the role of Human Resources Manager I managed all Human Resources functions for the 110-strong workforce, including recruitment, performance management, Leadership Development, succession planning and OH&S. Of special interest in this role was taking care of the health & safety of our staff and contractors, which required a strong focus on Risk Management for OH&S and Environment. In 2007, we blew the lid off the hotel's previous record for OH&S, achieving an evaluation under the Accor Risk Management program of 96% – an increase of 38% on 2006. Our focus on Staff and Environment paid off - when administering the annual Employee Opinion Survey in 2007 I was thrilled to discover we achieved a record 88% satisfaction (exceeding the Accor benchmark by 8%) including 100% awareness of OH&S in the hotel. I came to know for sure that by focusing on our People, the Business just ran better, no question about it!

Hilton WorldwideOrganisational Development | Training Manager
Mar. 2005 - Dec. 2006The iconic Hilton on the Park Melbourne (now Pullman Melbourne on the Park) was a wonderful high-profile property to belong to. In my role as Training Manager I facilitated soft and hard skill learning solutions. Over 16,000 hours of targeted training was delivered in 2005, triple the Hilton standard for training hours per employee. A real focus at this property was partnering Learning Solutions with HR and Business Strategy to meet Hilton's stringent worldwide standards for Customer Service. This required a Continuous Improvement approach on a daily basis, with regular review, measurement and updating of core skills for all Staff. My favourite part of this role was connecting with and developing the unique talents of the hidden heros of the Hotel - the night staff, cleaning and housekeeping crews and those behind-the-scenes legends who made the property a truly special place for all of us to belong.

ECC (Japan)Organisational Development | HR Trainer
May. 2001 - Sep. 2004My working holiday adventure quickly turned into a 3.5 year love affair with Japan, working for a wonderful company, ECC Foreign Language Institute. A leader in Japan's enormous English Language School Industry, ECC provides private English lessons to businesses, children and adults. In this role I quickly progressed from Language Instructor to Teacher Trainer where I was responsible for Management and Coaching for over 250 Teachers across 50 schools in Western Japan. My area of responsibility was for the company's largest adult program, Free Time Lessons, with a student base of 11,000 and a yearly turnover of AUD$3 million. Extending into Business Development activities, I developed new educational products and programs and worked directly with Japanese management to create new sales strategies for the business. This was a wonderful experience in the intricacies of working in a different culture and was particularly formative in my approach as a Trainer - with some sound planning and great respect for your Trainees, the sky is the limit for achieving great Workplace Training.
