Jan. 2002 - Dec. 2008Tampa, FloridaHired for initial start-up project funded by a grant by the FL Dept of Education to strategically plan, implement and deliver a pilot expansion of RFB&D, Learning Through Listening, assistive technology literacy program within Hillsborough County School District, Tampa, FL, the 8th largest school district in the nation. (Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, aka, Learning Ally, is a membership non-profit organization.) Established relationships, coordinated meetings and presentations to Hillsborough County School authorities to market program for students with vision and learning disabilities. Communicated with public sector agencies as an advocate and promoting literacy through community awareness. Conducted training sessions with school leaders, teachers, students and parents helping integrate digital textbooks within the classroom curriculum. Recruited and trained over 1,000 classroom teachers; also managed over 100+ special education coordinators participating in the program. Grew participation to 115 primary and secondary schools. Responsible for problem resolution and assisting ESL students and parents. Accountable for day-to-day operations and also insuring budgetary targets were met by target deadlines. Spearheaded and annually renegotiated contract with Hillsborough County School Board, valued at $27K. Generated detailed reports and collection of data as part of grant requirements to secure $750K in revenue. Responsible for database management. Represented RFB&D at several local, state and national conferences, delivering presentations and professional development workshops.
