Sometimes perform the duties of charge nurse by making decisions regarding bed scheduling, patient acuity, staffing, etc.
Obtain important patient information necessary for the care of my patients, such as vital signs, intake and output, and any patient concerns.
Communicating with doctor's about changes in patients’ conditions, test results, patient's needs, questions, etc.
General office and administrative skills, e.g. speaking with members of the health care team, as well as performing the charting necessary for my patients, speaking with clients.
Assist in emergency situations as needed and according to the request of the health care team.
Exhibit compassion, acceptance, respect, and empathy to all patients under my care and their family members. Worked daily with cardiac drips such as cardizem, amiodarone. Experience with heparin and insulin drips. Worked daily with feeding tubes, ie. G-tubes, J-tubes, NJ's as well as NG's for both feeding and decompression, and feeding pumps. Experience with telemetry, reading strips & monitors, as well as medications associated. Experience with surgical drains, ie. jackson pratts, hemovacs, percutaneous drains and t-tubes, as well as PCA pumps and epidurals. Experience with post-surgical patients, vascular, abdominal, whipples, post-angio, post-cath.
