Provided college counseling and advising to primarily first-generation college students including academic, socioemotional, career, work-related, family, and personal supports through utilizing strength based approaches, problem solving, student-centered counseling, and developmentally appropriate supports. Strong experience working with undocumented students, independent students, recent parents, students in crisis, and students on academic probation and facing dismissal. Implement early prevention and intervention supports to students college persistence. Oversee all students facing academic probation and dismissals and coordinated plans and appeals when needed. Strong success rate of students regaining good standing at their respective universities and rate of success of appeals at universities. Work in conjunction with other local non-profit staff to provide team based support for students facing difficulties utilizing the Student Success Team model. Facilitate trainings for other staff in cross-cultural counseling and advising, confidentiality, strength- based counseling, developmentally appropriate interventions, problem solving techniques, rights for AB540/Dreamer students, disability assessment and accommodations, and appeal process.
