Our Community Relations team work to connect young people and adults of all ages with agriculture in the communities where we operate. Organized and managed Riverview activities in South Dakota communities where we operate including local parades, chamber events, and other community activities. Assisted with the Marshall Dairy CAFO manure management plan. Facilitated our local giving and donations within our community in South Dakota. Conducted farm tours of all three South Dakota dairy farms. Tour groups included a variety of audiences including other farmers, students, club organizations, politicians, and consumers. Taught agriculture-based lessons in the classroom. Visits to the classroom (K-12) involved 30-45 minute lesson plans designed to educate and excite the next generation about agriculture. In collaboration with the local extension office, we started our own "Adopt a Cow" program. During the 2021-2022 school year 996 third, fourth, and fifth-grade students participated. Organized and managed the SD BeefBuilder 4-H Calf program. During my five years at Riverview I grew the program from one participant to 32 participants in 2023. Along with a co-worker, we managed the Riverview, LLP Facebook and Instagram pages through 2022. Planned and executed the South Dakota company picnic and Christmas parties.

The South Dakota Soybean Association (SDSA) represents farmer members, giving them all a strong voice in the formation of legislation and public policy that affects long-term profitability of soybean producers and the industry as a whole. Job responsibilities included: • Manage all aspects of the SDSA membership and corporate relations program. • Organize and manage the following South Dakota Soybean events: • Ag Outlook – SDSA’s tradeshow and convention attracting 1,000 farmers every year. • Soybean Open – SDSA’s golf tournament bringing over 200 golfers to the tournament annually. • DakotaFest – South Dakota Soybean’s tent and activities at the farm show. • Manage all animal agriculture projects funded by the SDSRPC. Attend meetings and update the board on activities for the U.S. Meat Export Federation, USA Poultry and Egg Export Council, Soy Aquaculture Alliance and Ag United for South Dakota. • Develop and manage SDSRPC's first student education program - Soybean Science. • Manage and execute the SDSRPC's See for Yourself (SFY) program. SFY brings South Dakota farmers to important export points to “see for themselves” the export process, visit ports, and experience how their check-off dollars work for them. Groups visited Seattle, New Orleans, Atlanta and China. • Expanded the program to include an international experiences as well as a continuing education program for past farmer attendees. • Write press releases and blog posts for managed events. • Manage budgets of programs and events.

Job responsibilities included: • Developed several new programs and organized multiple consumer outreach activities including: • Restaurant Crawls established in 2012. Connected over 200 “foodies” with South Dakota farmers. • Planned 31 Open House events on dairy, cattle, and hog farms. • Started the Moms Day Out on the Farm events in 2011. Expanded the program to include tours such as Food Professionals Day Out, Know Your Milk Tour, and Farms After Five. Nearly 250 people participated in bus tours of area farms while employed there. • Established the Adopt A Farmer program in 2010. The program connected 850 students in 19 schools across the state with a South Dakota farmer every month. • Organized five South Dakota Food Roundtable events, connecting professionals from all aspects of food production. • Arranged for over 500 students in 10 schools to meet with South Dakota farmers every year during National Agriculture Awareness week. • Established and managed Ag United social media outlets. • Facebook – South Dakota Farm Families – Started and grew account to 7,200 “likes.” • Twitter – AgUnited4SD – Started and grew account to 2,200 “followers.” • Pintrest – South Dakota Farm Families – Started and grew account to 350 “followers.” • Managed monthly E-Alerts, to subscribers. • Managed and wrote content on the Ag United website. • Secured sponsors for Ag United events. • Wrote press releases for Ag United events.
