Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of ChicagoSurgicial Clinical Reviewer
Mar. 2012 - Mar. 2016ChciagoI initiated the American College of Surgeons’ National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) for Pediatrics. My tasks included identifying surgical patients for inclusion in the database according to program protocols. I collected preoperative, operative, and postoperative data through effective utilization of the hospital’s medical record system. Additionally, I contacted patients and/or their families by telephone and/or written correspondence to record any postoperative occurrences related to surgical procedures. I identified and performed quality improvement activities across the institution, informed by the hospital’s ACS NSQIP Semiannual Report results. I represented the ACS NSQIP program on various hospital quality committees and assisted with the quality improvement initiatives of these committees. My responsibilities also involved analyzing ACS NSQIP reports and developing presentations to leverage NSQIP data for hospital-wide quality improvement efforts. I utilized analysis and presentation software to prepare analyses and present findings. I worked on several quality improvement projects based on NSQIP data, including Wound Classification, Decreasing Blood Transfusions in Craniofacial Reconstruction Cases, and Reducing Organ Space Infections associated with complex appendectomies.
