Within 6 months I was promoted to Diver doing surface diving (on air in 110 feet of water) involving debris clearance, underwater welding and construction. In less than one year I was promoted to Lead Diver routinely working in 480 feet of water (helium & oxygen gas mixture) on the Saturation Diving Team from the derrick barge Thor in the Fourties Field in the UK Sector. I also worked on the Ninnian Central Platform and on the Semi-Submersible Platform the Borgland Dolphin in 580 feet of water. In the last years of my career I ran surface diving operations on the Occidential Platform - Piper A.
