Oct. 2013Villa I Tatti, Florence, Italy● Manage the acquisitions process for all monographic book orders (excluding music) for the library: currently acquire 250- 300 titles per month. This process includes placing orders with international vendors and out-of-print & antiquarian dealers, receiving shipments, and matching bibliographic records. As a research center, our collection spans many languages, primarily European, with a core concentration on Italian Renaissance Studies
● Responsible for processing international invoices and troubleshooting order loading in the ALMA library management system
● Aid in identifying rare books in the collection; assess the rarity of holdings by using reference sources for rare books, including major catalogs of collections, bibliographies, and websites. This requires advanced knowledge of bibliography and the history of the book and the press
● Complete basic cataloging records using OCLC and Alm
● Provide bilingual advanced reference assistance for general and special collections by phone, email, and in-person
● Advise post-doctoral scholars and professors on bibliography and recent publications
● Develop and assist with exhibitions, instruction sessions, and other events as needed
● Knowledge of importation and application of IVA for relevant goods
