Senior DevOps Engineer
AdobeSenior DevOps Engineer
Jul. 2015 - Mar. 2017San Francisco Bay AreaAs an ambitious engineer at a big company, it was my role to build and prototype new technology to get Adobe.com off bare metal and into the cloud. Containers were an emerging technology, and the problem of orchestration was still waiting for a definitive solution.‍ I did pilot projects using technologies including Spinnaker, Swarm, and Kubernetes. I contributed to building Adobe.com's first golden image factory, transitive routing (before transit gateways existed in AWS), and AWS account architecture. I later worked on migrating Fotolia from Paris data centers into the Adobe cloud after the $800MM acquisition.

ContextMedia, Inc.Senior DevOps Engineer
May. 2014 - Jul. 2015Chicago, ILContextMedia is Chicago's most engaging and explosive high growth company. Their mission is to improve outcomes of patients with chronic diseases by engaging them with educational content delivered via android tablets, wallboards, and media players while they wait to be seen by their medical provider. I was their 2nd engineering hire. The company was 64 people, and had only a few thousand deployed devices. Within 15 months time the company grew to over 300 people and tens of thousands of devices in the field. Explosive growth meant solving many technical challenges in device management, deployment to the field, and rapid development of new products while addressing HIPAA regulatory concerns. I built and maintained applications in Ruby on Rails (SMS app, and custom MDM Console). I worked closely with QA and the product developers both locally and offshore to build a solid continuous delivery pipeline while bringing DevOps culture to the teams in the process. Tools used include: Jenkins, Chef, Amazon AWS (hybrid cloud architecture), Docker, Hashicorp Packer, Golang Most importantly: I learned about the right way to 3x a company as fast as possible while maintaining a world class culture, exceptional team engagement, and expanding array of products. Note to Chicagoland engineers: If the thrill of living on a fault line in a tsunami zone is not your jam, then from Boston to Seattle, there is no better place to work than ContextMedia.
