Substantially modernised a major portion of the network management software without rewriting all of it, and at a much reduced cost. By encapsulating the FORTRAN code in C wrappers and converting them into server applications, clients running on PCs and Unix computers could access the servers remotely, using the Open Software Foundation's DCE, remote procedure calls and Interface Definition Language (IDL).
