Andrew is the Smart City Director for the Royal Commission for Alula, where he has been responsible for multiple deliveries leading to a Smart County. In 2021 Andrew initiated the Smart City Strategy for the County of AlUla, in north west Saudi Arabia, one of the Vision 2030 projects. In 2022 he was responsible for delivering the Smart City Guidelines, as well as multiple on the ground initiatives. These Guidelines have become central to real estate capital asset development requirements in RIBA and other processses and have been approved for construction by the LDO, he has been design review lead. The Autonomous Pod implementation led by Andrew has had a globally unique success, having transported 100,000 local people in one year and trained AlUla citizens for its operation on semi open roads. Further groundbreaking work in AI, Smart County Platform, Digital Twin and innovative Smart Codes work. For two years Andrew initiated and drove the vision for a Smart Development Management platform to make a step change in efficiency in built environment and construction development using Digital Twin, Blockchain, BIM and AI technologies. He then followed as leader with the implementation and adoption of the platform. Andrew has also been driving the vision for a County wide control platform to connect all real time services using IoT, AI, Blockchain, Web3 and sub platforms. Andrew has reviewed 100+ built environment projects for adherence to the Smart City Guidelines in RIBA.
