Perform welding procedure and welder qualification, in both ASME IX and AWS codes, and also per other codes as requested, mainly EU codes and standards.
Provide support and research for new welding processes and products for customers and Engineering clients. Evaluate and cost the possible effects of new products/projects/capacity requirement on existing products, equipment, and inventory and floor space. Assist in the installation, training, and start-up of new and current projects, QA Training for Weld Quality and documentation, including 8D's, PFMEA's control plans. Originate and implement welding improvement and cost reduction to all weld processes, including machine and capability studies as required, globally, providing standardization at all facilities provide technical support.
Adhere to and develop as needed, ISO/QS 9000 & TS16949 procedures as it pertains to welding. Develop and champion initiatives that continually improve machine efficiency. Responsible for weld quality for all welded components and all welding processes. Control and develop all welding documentation, launches, PPAP's inspection, rework procedures and welding manufacturing, including NDT methods, evaluation, implementation and assessment of results about welding and related process.
Develop of heat treating process and procedures, mechanical destructive tests evaluation and assessment, hardness testing.
Metallographic structure evaluation of steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloys, copper alloys and others non-ferrous alloys, forged, casting and heat treated alloys by case-hardening, normalization, annealing, quenching and tempering, and thermochemical heat treating processes.
Perform NDT tests: visual test, penetrating test and ultrasonic testing on floor space.
