IBMCTO Global Defense, Aerospace Manufacturer (US, UK, IN)
Oct. 2019 - Mar. 2020US, UK, INMr. Brown is the Chief Architect and CTO for the Digital Transformation of this Global Defense and Aerospace manufacturer. Mr. Brown is responsible for the Design, Development, Modernization, Migration, and Implementation of the Hybrid Architecture (Cloud & On-Prem), Transformation (App & Process), Operating Model, and Culture Change. He manages a collaborative team that includes IBM, the Defense and Aerospace manufacturer, their subsidiary teams and contractors. He is in continual collaboration with the executive sponsors of this effort to provide direction, planning, status, and innovation. Mr. Brown has put in place Transformation Platform leveraging a Microservices/API Architectural approach (Itsio, SpringBoot), deployed to containers (Dockers, Kubernetes), managed with OpenShift, using Event Data Streaming (Kafka, Confluent) to provide data to services and a Data Lake, in a on & off-premise (AWS & Traditional) enterprise environment,. This Transformation Platform framework, architecture, and approach includes the modernization of applications, new development, and automated CICD deployment, supports Omni-Channel, Single Page Applications (SPA) (using API Management, internal and external gateways), Straight Thru Processing (STP), a Data Lake and back-end applications. The transformation effort consists of rearchitecting, re-platforming and incremental/iterative modernizing and automated deployment of applications(mainframe, client-server, C#, .Net, NSK, COBOL monoliths). The creation of a Data Lake and the consolidation and migration of existing data repositories (VSAM, MSSQL…) streamlines the processing and persistence of data to support one version of the truth. This approach and framework is transforming their application portfolio incrementally and allowing the Defense and Aerospace Manufacturer to integrate their subsidiaries and acquired companies' applications and systems.
