May. 2019- Assists governments and international organizations in the consolidation and review of trade laws and regulations, with the aim to develop a more conducive trade policy and regulatory environment that would empower and enable MSMEs to participate in international trade, as well supporting trade negotiations and strategic private sector engagement and advocacy. - Provides expert advice to businesses on how to successfully venture into Asia-Pacific/ASEAN markets through well-designed market access and regulatory compliance strategies (e.g. tariff classification, tariffs and non-tariff measures), leveraging FTAs and GSP scheme (e.g. rules of origin, certificate of origin procedures), using trade facilitation tools (e.g. self-certification on origin criteria, trade repository, advance rulings on rules of origin and tariff classification, electronic-certificate of origins) - Conducts capacity-building building activities for both governments (trade officials & regulators) and businesses on international trade policies and regulations, including FTAs/GSP compliance - Conducts research and analysis of international trade policy issues, including mitigating potential risks and unlocking opportunities for businesses - Works with businesses formulate government relations / business advocacy strategies as well as develop policy recommendations aligning international trade policies with business’ needs and interests - Advocates and supports public-private sector and multi-sector engagements and partnerships that enables SMEs' participation in international trade as well as foster sustainable trade, inclusive growth and development
