A lunch-time sports program was added to encourage students to be more active and to teach them sportsmanship, teamwork and collaboration. Web-based software was heavily researched and purchased to give students more access to learning opportunities. In 2012, a comprehensive Response to Intervention program was designed and implemented, giving struggling students the opportunity during the school day to get the assistance they needed. In 2014, Sequoia Elementary School was named a California Distinguished School.
