Peak Season Sort Center Associate - RDU5
AmazonPeak Season Sort Center Associate - RDU5
Nov. 2020 - Feb. 2021Durham, North Carolina, United StatesAs an HR professional, who started in recruitment, I was fascinated reading about Amazon’s fully virtual, online recruitment process, that they have used to hire thousands of Associates during a period of explosive growth. As someone with a growth mindset, and immense curiosity, I decided to check it out and was extremely impressed by the entire experience. Amazon has a big presence here in North Carolina and I had applied to some roles in their HR dept. previously so checking it out via a sort center position seemed a great way to get experience of the company. In addition, as someone with Director level HR experience, I can hit a roadblock when recruiters worry that perhaps I am too experienced for certain roles that I have applied for. What better way to demonstrate that I love getting involved at every level, and that what’s most important to me is being involved in a fast paced environment where I can make a difference every day, working as part of a team. The Seasonal Sort Center Associate role at Amazon offered that in spades and it was an awesome experience! I learned so much, met some amazing people, and have a new found respect for every Amazon package that arrives at my door. There are so many extremely hard working individuals putting in thousands of steps a day to get those packages to us so quickly, and I was proud to be one of them during Amazon’s busiest Peak Season ever!

Jordan Lake Rowing ClubCo-Founder
Oct. 2015 - Jun. 2019Cary, NCAs Co-Founder and Team Manager I was a full-time volunteer managing all aspects of the administration related to running a non-profit, youth rowing program. - I oversaw all human resources related activity including recruitment of our coaching team and team members and coaches payroll. - I designed and implemented all systems and processes including creating and managing the team website. - I oversaw all marketing including all social media and press activity for the club. - I handled the logistics related to both practice and travel race events. In a nutshell, I rolled-up my sleeves and loved getting involved in every aspect of the rowing club, I even earned my boat trailer driving stripes and am particularly proud of now being able to hitch a boat trailer on my own - no small feat. No job is too big or too small when it comes to running a rowing team, or anything in life. In May 2019 we made the tough decision to step away from the running of the rowing club due to restrictions on the location which made building a larger, more competitive rowing club impossible. In June 2019 we handed over the running of the rowing club to a new board of engaged parents who have taken it forward in a more recreational capacity. https://jordanlakerowingclub.org/home/about-us/
