Feb. 2014 - Jun. 2017Managua, NicaraguaAs Budget and Programming Assistant, my role consisted of elaborating or reviewing budgets of up to USD36 million in order to carry out a Country Programme for 5 different nutrition-related, government-aligned activities such as school meals, asset-creation for smallholder farmers, mother-child health and nutrition, HIV clients' adherence to ART therapy and climate change and adaptation in extremely vulnerable and hard to reach areas of Nicaragua. 1. Provided analysis on fund and grant balances 2. Monitored, reported, and advised on grant expense and adherence to donor/ government preferences. An eye for detail and good knowledge of each grant’s specifications was required in order to execute this task and take action when required. 3. Programming and allocation of grant resources as per project requirements and follow-up with the competent units. 4. Collaborated with Donor Relations Officer in the elaboration of grant proposals and applications 5. Reviewed and prepared budget plans, monitoring, and analyses of project financial performance to support financial analyses and optimization of resources. 6. Prepared needs-based and resource-based budgets for WFP projects. 7. Provided resource forecasts with at least one year of programme requirements. 8. Identified resourcing shortfalls/surpluses and elaborated proposals on fund optimization. 9. Updated monthly pipeline corporate reports to prevent and address pipeline breaks and maximize operational effectiveness. 10. Provided guidance and on-the-job training to other staff in budget planning, fund management, and operational planning, to support uninterrupted development and consistency in services delivered. 11. Coordinator of the Nicaraguan Country Office’s Supply Chain working group.
