Aug. 2022 - Aug. 2023As the Social Media Manager at Alaffia, I took on the challenge of low engagement caused by the algorithm favoring animal and dog accounts, and resulting in the social pages being 99% driven by paid ads. Recognizing the need for a strategic shift, I retrained the algorithm and devised a comprehensive plan to foster genuine connections with real followers, while reducing reliance on paid ads. Within a three-month timeframe, I successfully transitioned our social media strategy towards cultivating authentic engagement. By emphasizing organic following and implementing targeted initiatives, I achieved notable accomplishments: Impressions: I drove an impressive 18.9% increase in impressions Engagements: I accomplished a 19.4% increase in engagement Engagement Rate (per Impression): I achieved an engagement rate of 3.2% (per impression), surpassing the industry average of 1.4%. By retraining the algorithm and shifting the focus towards organic engagement, I successfully transformed Alaffia's organic social media presence. Overcoming the previous dominance of paid ads, I elevated brand visibility, increased engagements, and achieved significant improvements in engagement rates. My role also consisted of managing mixed teams in the US and CAN consisting of full-time employees and third-party agencies specializing in Paid social, Influencer Management, Email/SMS marketing, SEO, and creative content.
