Nov. 2023Ottawa, Ontario, Canada · RemoteProject Description: The purpose of this project was to introduce a new modelling layer to the CBSA overall enterprise model which would better connect the Enterprise Architecture layer to the Project Solution Layer. This layer to be developed was named the Conceptual Model Layer and the purpose is to standardize the individualized nature of each project’s architectural documentation in a way that it can clearly be captured in the Enterprise Model. Tasks Performed: • Perform extensive research on the Enterprise Architecture of CBSA and the tools used to document it. This included learning the strengths and weaknesses of the Enterprise Model. • Perform extensive research on the Data Governance and application and database models which were more at a practical level. Determine how common a language was used to document these models and document the gap between the current state and a future state in which a conceptual model layer could be introduced. • Create artefacts and framework templates for all modeling approaches on the Enterprise Conceptual modeling layer. This included modeling using Entity-Relationship (ER), Functional Modeling and Object-Oriented approaches. • Created a formal criteria and best practices questionnaire used for selecting a modelling approach at the Project Solution and Conceptual Modeling layer. • Provide impact analysis on the current Data Governance areas and generate a roadmap for how to make the transition from Enterprise level Data models to Solution or Conceptual level Data models.
