Promoted the mission and vision at all levels, including grant-writing and contract bidding; developing a Board of Directors; and nurturing partnerships with community members, in-kind organizations, clients, local government, volunteers, and funders. Made D.C. Greenworks an award-winning first-mover and innovator in Low Impact Development (LID) and workforce development by funding, designing and installing Washington, D.C.’s first-ever commercial-scale greenroofs. Started the first greenroof/LID social enterprise in the region, and installed over 25,000sf of greenroof, 15,000sf of rain gardens, and 1000 canopy trees across the metro area. As a result of demonstrating the viability and efficacy of these technologies, the Nation’s Capitol now has more square feet of greenroof than any other city in the country today. Developed multiple hands-on training and certification programs for arboriculture, greenroofing, and regenerative landscaping for clients such as the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation, Earth Conservation Corps, the D.C. Urban Forestry Division.
