Our product provided FinTech business process improvements, focused on supply chain automation. We tied stores and point-of-sales systems through to suppliers by creating a common platform for data exchange, and worked with partners to provide data through any format suited to their systems, including fax and FTP. Responsible for (and built) entire technology architecture: - Infrastructure architecture: Hosting provider selection, resource provisioning and configuration;
- Application architecture: data and database model, business logic and application development; - Partner integrations through a modular microservice model;
- Server-side REST API schema definition and development; - Company-Role-Group-User (RBAC) authentication in multi-tenant environment;
- UX wireframes, UI development and implementation, and devops release process; Client and partner benefits:
- Saved over 1000 hours per month (6 FTE annual) for launch customer, through process automation. Replaced a manual process which was conducted via phone, fax, email, or partner website portal;
- Eliminated roughly 3 hours of work weekly across 100 stores each, allowing the stores to reclaim that time for other tasks;
- Eliminated a segment of store-level employee training by completely eliminating store-level workflow.

Directed a team of 12 staff, including 6 developers, 2 support staff, engineering, and sysadmins. Our team handled many of the projects which weren’t tied directly to core IS systems, such as member-facing systems, new initiatives, bake-offs, and partner analysis. Our biggest project was the development of a custom digital media content system, providing service to nearly 2000 member-facing portals in our clubs. This saved over $3 million dollars annually by eliminating software licensing fees from 6 external partners. The internally-developed solution streamlined scheduling and playlist management to a single playlist per channel system-wide, with realtime playback and health reporting, and reduced network traffic through development of a system-wide peer-to-peer CDN. Highlighted projects:
- Develop and deploy distributed 2000-node 3D rendering farm by piggybacking on extra CPU capacity available on media players. File logistics and traffic management were written internally;
- Consultation with internal business units for guidance in new technology.
- Support web group through analysis and bake-off environments for primary website CMS;
- Support Marketing through selection and provision of email campaign partners and workflows;
- Prototype, development, and full deployment of membership card system across 60 stores, including capture and consolidation of membership photos from clubs into centralized storage for intranet;
- Department-wide IRC (“Jabber”) deployment, years ahead of Google Chat availability;
- Mobile-friendly PHP-based IT support dashboards deployed to iPhone 1 within weeks of release in 2007. For reference, Apple didn’t provide iOS-friendly development frameworks until mid-2008;
- Standardization of club-level AV technology and configuration, with remote management capability;
