Gama Gamato, MRACI (CChem), MAIOH. Holds BSc (Chemistry)(UPNG), Postgrad (Applied Toxicology) (RMIT), MSc (OHP)(UOW); MSc (Enviro Engineering (RMIT), PhD Candidate (Enviro Engineering) (RMIT)-Part-time Research. An objective thinker, and a highly experienced & committed OHS professional with over 21 years’ experience in Mining Industry both in PNG (Ok Tedi Mine) and Australia (All Glencore NQ Operations & Anglo-American - Moranbah North Coal Mine), mainly in metalliferous mines and recently underground coal mine in Central Qld. Has involved in Workplace Health & Safety Management, Occupational Hygiene, Incident Investigation & Control, lead ICAM, Risk Management & Mitigation Strategy, Safety Systems Development, Audit Methodologies & Training Support (ISO & AS/NZS.4801). He's got Cert IV in Workplace Training & Assessing, Workplace Health & Safety Officer Level 1, 2 & 3 Certificate & Safety Auditor. Has completed multidisciplinary Incident Investigation (BSBWHS505A Investigate WHS incidents) and took part in incident investigations, completed Project Management and Safety Leadership Training while working for Glencore North Queensland Copper, QLD. Has exceptional understanding in Environmental Management (ISO 14000) and specialized in Hazardous Substance and Dangerous Goods management (ADG Code) including legislative requirements for Mine Radiation Control (involved with the development of the Code of Practice) and management process within Metalliferous Industry in Queensland, Australia. He is well vested with MARPOL Classifications systems and development of SDS. He holds current standard 11, S1,S2,S3 and G2 for Underground Coal Mine (Qld). He is currently living and working in Central Qld, while doing his PhD research write-up on a part-time basis (any spare time he finds from work). Research Interest is in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in Mining.
