Nov. 2020 - Jan. 2023Bucharest, RomaniaKornfeld's most recent narrative non-fiction book, THE TRUE was published by Editura Integral and was launched at the National Theater Festival of Bucharest/UNITER in November of 2021. The book was also selected for the 2021 LibFest / Libris Literary Festival in Bucharest. “Sarah Kornfeld’s The True is an extraordinary satire of the corrupt economy engulfing the world. In this ambitious book, the author explores how she gets lost in a cultural dreamscape, a nightmare we all now share…Employing a prismatic narrative, The True may be a new form of “post-post-truth literature,” offering a new lens by which we can explore not only our shared alienation but our global connection.” — Rain Taxi Review

Adjunct Professor
University of San FranciscoAdjunct Professor
May. 2016 - Jan. 2022San Francisco, CaliforniaI am an Adjunct Professor in the department of International + Multicultural Studies. I'm currently a co-leader with Dr. Lance McCready on a course we designed called "Cultural Curation: Curriculum, Content & Site Specific Learning". Our intention for the course is to bring research and the arts together to impact the field of adult education and social justice. We live in a time where people want to feel, touch and experience their learning in a new way. Cultural Curation is a graduate course designed to empower educators, researchers, policymakers and culture workers with a range of approaches to "curating" curriculum, content and site-specific learning. This is an overview into the rapidly evolving place of cultural curation in a deeply multicultural world. This course will provide hands-on, experiential approaches and proven creative tools of content/cultural curation/exhibit making to create learning experiences that are deeper and richer for you and those whom you work with. Many of the classes will be held on-site, in public spaces of art and installation. The aim is to model (and transfer knowledge) about place based/integrated learning strategies using site-specific art methods and strategies. Themes and issues addressed in the course will include: histories and ideologies of curriculum studies and curating; theories of place-based and adult learning; approaches to collecting, programming and design. We will ALSO look at the contradictions, tensions and intersectional changes that are appearing in curation -- and if "curation" as a word is/might be changing due to social media and access. Local cultural and international curators/exhibit makers who are curators, educators, artists and researchers will share their experiences and students will develop their own projects appropriate for the settings in which they work.
