UniverseLead Platform Engineer
Aug. 2021Toronto, Ontario, CanadaAt Universe I manage the platform engineering team, which supports the application engineering teams full software delivery life-cycle. We oversee everything from helping developers run their code in preview environments to deploying it to production. We use a variety of technologies, including Kubernetes, Vault, Docker, Terraform, Tekton, Google Cloud Platform, and ArgoCD, to ensure that everything runs smoothly. I also bootstrapped the data-platform team at Universe, where we recently delivered a best-in-class streaming reporting platform. To accomplish this, we utilised Debezium, Kafka, Schema Registry, Protobuf, Quarkus, and Clickhouse to create a top-notch platform that took our report generation time from 10+ minutes to several seconds. Finally, I manage the QA team and am currently leading them through the transition from manual testing to automated testing using webdriver.io. This is an important initiative for us, as it will help us to streamline our testing process and ensure that we catch any bugs or issues before they make it into production. Overall, my job is highly technical and requires a broad range of skills and expertise. I need to be able to manage people effectively, stay up to date with the latest technologies, and work collaboratively with other teams to deliver high-quality solutions that meet the needs of the application engineer team.
