Over the past forty years I have had the pleasure and opportunity to act as Director of Photography on four regional Emmy award winning documentaries and several others that received prestigious awards.  I have traveled to and worked in forty different states and over twenty-five countries on five continents.  I have served as Director of Photography for UNC’s acclaimed “North Carolina’s World War II Experience”,  as Director/Cinematographer on “Down Home: The North Carolina Jewish Experience”  and as Director of Photography on UNC-TVs “Gold Fever and the Bechtler Mint”, as well as directing and photographing major projects for, UNC, Duke University, NC. State University and the Governor’s Institute on Substance Abuse. Recent Work In 2013 I traveled to Uganda to do a documentary for the UNC School of Public Health. I served as Director of Photography and editor on that project. The stories document the observations of everyday people who spend much of their time outdoors for livelihood or recreation. You can see samples of that project at http://www.warrengentry.com In 2023, I served as Director/Cinematographer on the documentary “ For the Common Good in Uncommon Times,” a feature documentary that chronicles the experience of Carolina Meadows navigating COVID-!9. The message in this film drives home the message that a combination of best practices in public health and the willingness of a community to look after each other and act as one creates a great outcome for all.
