I started out in the health care field. My bachelor's was in Social Work that allowed me to work my way up to Assistant Administrator of a skilled nursing facility. Left that because of funding cuts and spent the next 5 years in the restaurant industry becoming General Manager of my own restaurant in Richmond VA. Left that and moved closer to home where I did work in the photography industry until I found a heat opportunity in education. I was accepted in to a program called "Fifth year student" that earned me a Masters in Education and a teaching certificate. I taught secondary social sciences. Mostly taught history but did have a chance to teach Economics and Government (AP) to Seniors. Upon learning the Education field I was hired by our states Emergency Management Agency where I was responsible for processing various grants to communities all over the state. Each career has brought me exposure to many aspects of organizational and deep knowledge of learning and a mountain of governmental language. As a retiree I still look for volunteer opportunities in my community. This year I served as a judge for a country wide debate and speaking tourney. I have traveled to Japan, South Korea as an educator that required lesson plans to incorporate into my curriculum that was also shared state wide by the state Archives.
