Margarida is a curator, researcher, writer, educator and policy advisor whose work bridges Asia and Europe through the arts and cultural policy. Currently Curator and Researcher at the Macau Museum of Art, she has led exhibitions such as Representing Women: 19th and 20th Centuries – MAM Collection and co-curated the Women Artists – 1st International Biennale of Macau. She is the founder of BABEL – Cultural Organization, where she has initiated cross-disciplinary projects including Influxus, New Visions, and Macau Architecture Promenade (MAP).
Alongside her curatorial practice, Saraiva is also a cultural policy advisor, contributing to the design and implementation of programs that strengthen cultural cooperation between Asia and Europe. As a writer, she explores intersections of culture, identity, and critical theory, bringing a reflective voice to contemporary artistic discourse.
She lectures in Museum Management and Exhibition Design at both the Institute for Tourism Studies and the University of Saint Joseph (Macau), engaging students in Heritage Management at undergraduate and graduate levels. From 2011 to 2013, she was Head of Education at Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art (Porto), collaborating with institutions such as Tate Modern and Louisiana Museum of Art.
A PhD candidate in Philosophy, Art and Critical Thought at the European Graduate School, Saraiva has studied under Boris Groys, Achille Mbembe, and Judith Butler.
