I am a postgraduate researcher in media and communications with a research focus on the content and effects of gay men’s media, particularly magazines, and how they shape identity, masculinity, and cultural norms. My interdisciplinary work draws from media studies, sociology, gender and queer theory, and cultural analysis, with developing expertise in discourse and thematic analysis. I have a strong interest in how journalism is practiced and understood, especially in relation to representation, community-building, and democratic participation.
Professionally, I have editorial experience through the Missouri School of Journalism and at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where I contributed to and edited for VOX Magazine, the Columbia Missourian, and The Columbia Journalism Review. These roles allowed me to work at the intersection of journalism, cultural reporting, and public-facing storytelling, refining my skills in research synthesis, narrative development, and collaborative production.
My doctoral research adopts a comparative lens on UK and US media and includes plans for qualitative fieldwork with LGBTQ+ audiences at World Pride in Washington, D.C.
