I have a dual-PhD in Biomedical Sciences (clinical research), which assessed the changes in vascular reactivity that occur in the healthy state and throughout the development of obesity and/or insulin resistance, through to the worst states of metabolic health (e.g., diabetes with complications such as foot-wounds). Yielding eight journal publications and two book chapters, my PhD program was marked by a 12-month Visiting Postgraduate Research Scholarship at Harvard University and the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, USA).
Following my PhD, I completed postdoctoral research programs within the Departments of Medicine at the University of Melbourne (Australia) and Uppsala Université (Sweden). Each program provided on-the-job training in epidemiology, focussed on the seasonality of cardiovascular disease, drug-safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, and comparative effectiveness studies of pharmaceutical treatments. More recently, I completed a two-year Marie-Skłodowska Curie Research Fellowship, awarded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme, at the Université Grenoble Alpes (France).
Since 2021, I’ve gained experience in a pure Medical Writing role for one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies. This real-world evidence research has characterised contemporary patients with chronic kidney disease, heart failure, or type 2 diabetes, and their utilisation of traditional and novel guideline-directed medical therapies.More...
